A new addition to the Portland sandwich scene as of late 2025, the Noshpit is serving chopped sandwiches. Their motto is “Chopped, Toasted, Loud” and that comes through in their sandwiches. Located in the old Backyard Social space at 1914 N Killingsworth St, they are open Tuesday-Sunday. Chopped sandwiches were new to me until a couple years ago when Dos Hermanos opened up their shop on Stark. I get the appeal of the chop and having each ingredient equal and present in each bite. While it will never supplant the more traditional sandwich for me, I do appreciate it as a sandwich option. I am an equal opportunity sandwich enthusiast. The Noshpit is making some tasty sandwiches with some unique touches and flair.

The Italian from my first visit at the end of 2025. Capicola, Salami, Pepperoni, Shredded Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Pepperoncini, Provlone & House Italian on Grand Central bread. Side of Pat’s Potato Salad. Can’t go wrong with these ingredients! This was from right after they opened and the execution has gotten tighter since then, they also cut the sandwiches in half which is necessary. Still, right out of the gate a good sandwich! The potato salad was solid too. I met one of the owners Pat at the Tulip Shop and we bonded over our love of sandwiches. He mentioned he had a new sandwich shop so of course I had to roll up! I’ve been three times in the last six months.

The Big Tuna and a side of “Wackaroni” salad from my visit in April. This was a super delicious sandwich and I feel like they are flexing their creative muscles here and serving up a unique sandwich. Smoked Ahi Tuna, Cabbage, Ginger, Pickled Daikon & Carrot, Cilantro, Wasabi Aioli. Woah! First off I love that they smoke the fish, and that they use Ahi Tuna. The fish tasted quality. This ain’t your grandma’s tuna sandwich! The flavor profile runs Japanese with the pickled veggies, ginger and wasabi. All the flavors really work well together. None of these strong flavors dominate, it is actually a fairly subtle sandwich. This is my favorite sandwich of theirs so far. They were out of the potato salad that day, but I’m glad since I got to try this pasta salad which was really tasty!

Turkey sandwich from last week. Oven roasted Turkey, Swiss Cheese, Shredded Lettuce, Red Onion, Tomato, House Aioli, Cranberry Chutney. A bit of a nod to Thanksgiving with the cranberry chutney. This sandwich was solid but could use a bit of tweaking. It ran a bit bland. I think they should lean in to the bolder flavors of the chutney more, as well as achieving a fuller turkey flavor. Still a good sandwich, but this one impressed me the least. They currently have nine sandwiches on the roster. Besides the three listed here they have a Veggie, Cubano, Meatball, Pulled Pork, Beefy Cheddar & Chicken Caesar. Also on the menu are a few different hot dog options, a few sides and Mac & Cheese. Well worth checking out, especially if you are in North Portland and/or you love chopped sandwiches! Happy eating.
