I had a great weekend of eating so for this post I decided I would post in order what I ate from Friday to Sunday. I ate at HarBQ, Fried Egg I’m In Love, Burger Syndicate, Red Sauce Pizza, and Pip’s Original Doughnuts.

Chicken Salad Sandwich with queso mac from HarBQ. HarBQ is a BBQ truck that operates in the parking lot of Von Ebert Brewing in North Portland. Some of the best BBQ in town, they always run specials and new items. Their newest item is a smoked chicken thigh salad sandwich. It’s so good! I love a good chicken salad sandwich. Also their queso is on point. Mac dressed with Fontina and green chile queso. Nice little lunch to start Friday and the weekend off right.

Next up for Saturday’s lunch was the new special from Fried Egg I’m In Love: the Crunch Wrapper’s Delight (they always give musical pun names to their dishes). This is their April special and I’m all about people making crunch wraps (shout out Kim Jong Grillin). Bacon, egg, cheese, hashbrowns, avocado, pico & pickled reds wrapped up in a golden brown tortilla. This was delicious and perfect. The only way it could have been better would’ve been a smoky salsa to dip in. This is on the menu through April.

Burger & Waffle Fries from Burger Syndicate. On Saturday I was invited to get a sneak peek at a new burger joint that is opening up this week (April 8th). This is the new venture from Anthony of Nacheaux fame. He has had an event-based food cart for years which is one of my favorites. He also opened up in Moda Center this year as well. This will be his first brick-and-mortar in a while and I am stoked since he cooks some of my favorite food but I could rarely have it due the infrequent event schedule. Now I can grab a burger whenever I want! Located right behind Voodoo Doughnuts in Ankeny Alley, he is focusing on Smash Burgers and Waffle Fries, with a couple other items on the menu. I got the Afterburn Burger: 2 smash patties, American cheese, jalapeños, Frank’s hot aioli, cheese skirt bun. Super tasty, very on point burger. Perfect size. I got the waffle fries with lemon pepper seasoning which were delicious and were improved only by the syndicate dipping sauce.

Fried Chicken Caesar Pita Wrap from Red Sauce Pizza. Red Sauce is a favorite, especially on the weekends when they run deals on 1-topping pizzas as well as serve hoagies. Their hoagie is easily one of the best in town and a favorite of mine. You can only get them for lunch on Saturday and Sunday. They often run hoagie specials, or in this case, a pita wrap special. This was super yummy. And huge! Hard to get the scale from the photo but this was massive. Somehow the pita did hold up during eating, though I’m glad I got it to go so I could eat it in the privacy of my home and not in public. Chicken was on point, as was the Caesar salad and dressing.

Doughnuts from Pip’s Original. Pip’s is a Portland favorite that has been around forever and is a place that I always mean to stop by more often. They make fresh Belgian waffle-inspired doughnuts with a rotating menu of toppings. They are also known for their Chai teas. Very delicious doughnuts and a perfect treat. I got 4 to go while waiting on my pita wrap down the street. This is the year I’m going to remember to get free birthday doughnuts! Happy eating.
