Tacos Fita, one of the best food carts in Portland, just opened up a new restaurant in Beaverton. Tacos Fita serves up some of the best Mexican food. Tacos, burritos, bowls, all centered around their delicious and perfectly seasoned and grilled meats. All the standard meats you would expect, plus bonus specialties like Ribeye, Shrimp and Halibut. Their tacos are really out of this world. Made on house-made large flour tortillas (way bigger than street taco size) each one is custom tailored around the delicious meat of choice. I’ve been a champion of them since my first visit a year ago. Chef and owner Rafael invited me to check out his new restaurant this weekend. The space is really nice, with a coffee shop on one side and a bar on the other. You can order the same menu as the carts, and then on nights and all day on the weekend you can get restaurant only specialties. New and unique appetizers as well as an asada menu where your meat of choice comes out sizzling on a platter with grilled onion, jalapeño, rice, beans, salsas and fresh hot tortillas so you can construct your own custom delicious tacos. Really incredible food and flavors. The things I tried on my visit was the whole roasted cauliflower, roasted broccolini, diablo shrimp as well as an asada platter with Picanha steak. I was really blown away with everything. Also a delicious margarita made by Steven who is heading up the bar and cocktail menu. I highly recommend you check out the new Tacos Fita location at 4725 SW Lombard Ave in Beaverton or one of the three food cart locations in Portland.

I wasn’t happy with any of the photos I took from this weekend, so I’m going to use this blog post to highlight the food they serve at their carts, of which I have better photos! From my second visit last spring I got three of their signature tacos. From bottom to top: Ribeye, crispy Halibut, Shrimp. From the first bite I could tell that these were special and some of the best tacos I’ve eaten in my life, whether in the States or in Mexico. The flavor of the meat and the seasoning on each was so incredible! Never has “bursting with flavor” been more applicable. Just like we musicians can tell if someone can really play after a few seconds, all it took was one bite for me to tell that this food is on a whole other level. Appreciate that each taco has it’s own distinct accoutrement. No copy and paste tacos here! I can’t pick a favorite, because they are all perfect! These are large tacos, and three was plenty for a meal.

Next up from last summer is their “Surf and Turf” bowl (you can also get it as a burrito) which uses that incredible shrimp and asada. Why choose only one when you can have both? Shrimp, carne asada, guacamole, rice, beans, greens. Really just the perfect bowl for lunch. Balanced, healthy, delicious, a good amount of food and an excellent value for the money.

This is the surf and turf burrito. Again, one of the best burritos I’ve had in my life. The steak and the shrimp are so delicious and complement each other well. The burrito was perfectly executed and flawless. It’s a testament to how delicious their tacos are that it took me this long to order a burrito! You know I love my burritos. Everything on their menu is fire, because each component is delicious, well cooked and seasoned. Whether it’s a taco, burrito, bowl, salad, chips & guac, or any of the new restaurant items, you can order safely knowing that everything will be delicious! Chef Rafael has a real good thing going on, and he is a super nice guy! Happy eating.
