Rukdiew Cafe

In today’s installment of “What Did Spencer Eat For Lunch?” I revisited Rukdiew Cafe in SE (2534 SE Belmont). It’s telling that I am leading with a pic not of food but of their insanely cute space. It’s like a pastel, Candyland fantasy in there. Love the Christmas ornaments hanging everywhere and the pink padded bar seats. I wish more places in town took as much care with their space and visuals as they do here. This is a great Thai spot that has the standard Thai menu as well as less well known dishes, like Kana Moo Grob and Khao Soi. Last time I was here I got the Kana Moo Grob, which was delicious. Crispy pork belly and Chinese broccoli, which has a way different profile than traditional broccoli. I really like they way they did their pork belly and their application of Thai chili.

Today I got their Kaprow with beef, which is one of my favorite Thai dishes. Theirs was a bit different than other versions. Stir fried meat with Thai chili, garlic, green beans and basil. Very delicious, great sauce to soak the rice in. The basil really pops in this dish. Would definitely recommend and order again. This spot is definitely on my ever expanding list of places to come back to. Their drinks look good so might need to come back in the evening for dinner. Good portions and prices. And certainly the cutest cafe in town. Happy Eating!
